The article titled Response rates in patients with schizophrenia and positive symptoms receiving cognitive behavioural therapy: a systematic review and single-group meta-analysis by Bighelli, et al, from the Boston Medical Center of Psychiatry published on December of 2018. This study wanted to introduce the first meta-analysis inquiring the effectiveness of using cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) on patients with schizophrenia. The results revealed that about 44.5% and 13.2% of patient accomplished about 20% and 50% reduction of symptoms. This means that cognitive behavioral therapy along with pharmacotherapy provides a “minimal improvement in overall symptoms”. This study is very valuable in proving that we should not waste our limited resources on implementing CBT to patient’s treatment plan.
