The skull malformation, Trigonocephaly comes from metopic synostosis, which is premature closure of the fontanel suture. It is the second most common type of craniosynostosis. The forehead can look narrow and the eyes may be spaced in too closely together. Many of the misshape cranial are fixed for cosmetic reasons. However, recent studies had shown that when metopic synostosis is not treated, it can cause developmental delays, including learning and vision disabilities. Treatments are mostly helmet for mild malformation and cranioplasty for severe condition done before the age of one. This is one of the reasons why it is important to record infant’s growth chart: height, weight and head circumference.
