For this rotation, I had the pleasure to have Mr. Fahim Sadat, PA-C as my site evaluator. In my opinion he is one of the best, provides very insightful and useful feedbacks, and he is respectful and professional. I was with three other classmates and they too offered interesting cases and topics.
The H&P I presented was about a 4 year old boy who complains of prolong urination and very thirsty. The HPI reveals no past medical history and those symptoms were sudden. I provided the differential diagnoses:
1) Type 1 Diabetes – sudden onset of polyuria, polydipsia in an otherwise young patient
2) Nephrogenic diabetes insipidus – polyuria, polydipsia
3) Urinary tract infection – polyuria
The other important information I delivered, were the labs, which confirmed enough information to refer the patient to the children’s emergency department.
Thanks to the daily presentations I did in my past rotation for Internal Medicine, I was able to present with confidence and have a better organization.
The main changes for future presentations will be to slow down my speech with a higher volume.
Asking Pharm cards from my classmates was something new, I was not prepare for it, however, it was fun because I was able to answer most of the questions. They are medications that we all studied and this was a nice review.
