PANCE preparation plan

Doc: Kailin pance plan

My plan: Test Date: Feb 8th 2020, 9 am → I got 75 days to be ready! THE COUNTDOWN IS ON!!

The test date will depend on how well I do in the end of curriculum exam by PAEA on January 6th, 2020.

If I fail that exam, I will push it 2 extra months, to calm my nerves.

Each week until the exam I will complete 1 – 3 system depending on the percentage listed on the https://www.nccpa.net/pance-content-blueprint, https://prodcmsstoragesa.blob.core.windows.net/uploads/files/PANCEBlueprint.pdf

I will go through all the subcategories of each system and emphasize my weak points. Thanks to the last PACKRAT, I know what I need work on: Cardio, Rheumatologic disorders, orthopedics, and endocrine. But since Cardio is the highest percentage (13%) I should dedicate more time on it.

Also, I plan to be in a library every time I am preparing for the PANCE, my favorite libraries are

  1. The Graduate Center library, CUNY
  2. Baruch library, CUNY
  3. QHC library, Pavilion

They all open late and most importantly there’s no music or shouting like the library at York College, CUNY.

For each topic, I will use several types of resources and study tools

  1. Rosh Review – I will do all 3105 questions
  2. Exam Master question bank
  3. Maybe I buy the Qbank by Kaplan on Black Friday,
  4. Osmosis videos
  5. PANCE prep pearls book
  6. A comprehensive review for the certification and recertification examinations for PAs book
  7. York library online resources → access medicine, & UpToDate

My way of studying, which works for me, is to concentrate for 25 minutes and take 5 minutes break, unless I am taking timed exams. I plan to do 60 to 120 questions per day. Also for my mental health I want to include exercise routines, running with my dog (Nina), going back to the gym where I can watch Osmosis videos or simply relax and listen to music. I will spend time with friends and family. I strongly believe this is very important to avoid burnout.

Since I am still on my rotation, I have to give priority to the EOR exam studying:

From November 24th – December 11th → Surgery rotation, usual shifts 5:30AM to 6PM, Monday to Friday

  • Study surgery EOR exam
  • Complete Blackboard assignments
  • Weekly Rosh questions – 40 questions or more
